Those who become members of Solar Harvest seem to share the following motivations:

In order to purchase shares in Solar Harvest, you need to become a member. There is a once-only $50 administration fee to become a member, and you can purchase shares at the same time, or any time in the future.
Before you become a member, you must read the rules and disclosure statement (on this page) and undertake your own research into the financial implications.
Benefits to members
The equity produced from the sale of shares in Solar Harvest will be used to fund the installation of solar panels on the roofs of organisations, who have agreed to lease the solar panels from Solar Harvest.
The income produced from the lease payments for these systems will go towards paying off the initial capital costs, providing continuing maintenance of the installed systems, covering other recurrent costs such as insurance, tax and administration. Our modelling shows that it is likely we will be able to provide a modest return to our members within three or four years.
Solar Harvest Community Energy Cooperative is a regional, community-owned, renewable energy co-operative.
We aim to provide regional communities with access to fair, clean and locally produced energy. Having a co-operative structure ensures that local people will always have a say in how the business operates. It ensures that decisions will be made for the benefit of the broader communities in which we live.
Clean energy will be produced using solar panels on the roofs of local small businesses and community organisations. Its production will have no deleterious impacts on our environment. It will be used directly by the organisations who make available their roof space for the solar panels thus reducing transmission losses.
Those who host the solar panels on their properties will not have to pay the capital cost for installation but will immediately benefit from reduced power costs. The Co-op will charge the Customer a lease fee, at a rate which is less than the savings they will see on their electricity bill from the solar power.
Volunteer: Help Solar Harvest create change in our local communities
Share your skills: As Solar Harvest grows, we will require more volunteers to support our work. This can include marketing, design, legal, administrative, technical, or any other willingness to help.
Provide governance: Solar Harvest currently has an active and committed board, however succession planning requires us to keep alert for potential new board members.
